As a profoundly Deaf man, Michael relies entirely upon captioning to be able to access and enjoy video content and this has driven him to establish Melel Media.
Melel Media is also a social enterprise.
This means that we are different from traditional service providers in this space as we offer a low cost / high quality solution that is not focused on profits.
Increasingly, the trend to provide streaming video content over the internet means that less access is provided to people who rely on captioning and/or audio description support services.
Leveraging the power of new technology, such as Amara, enables Melel Media to offer captioning and audio description solutions that are realistically priced. We believe that for too long there has been very little competition in this market and this has also hindered accessibility levels, as existing service providers have been able to charge a premium.
